High-horsepower drum mulcher, fine mow-over finish

What forestry mulching is

One machine, one pass, no pile to burn

Forestry mulching grinds brush, saplings, and undergrowth in place using a high-powered rotating drum.

No cutting and piling. No burning. No hauling.

Everything that was there becomes fine mulch on the surface, and the land is left smooth, covered in organic material that breaks down fast and can be maintained with a standard mower. That mulch layer also keeps the soil covered and helps control erosion, instead of leaving bare dirt to wash away.

It’s a different job from land clearing. Mulching handles everything above the surface, protects root systems, and preserves your mature trees. If you’re not putting up a structure, it’s usually the fit.

Why the equipment matters

Fine mulch you can mow over, not logs left in the dirt

Not all forestry mulching equipment is the same, and the difference shows in the finish. Here’s what ours does and why it matters to you.

Our drum runs 40 gallons per minute at 4,500 PSI, against 15 to 30 gallons at 3,000 to 3,500 PSI on a standard machine. More flow means the drum keeps its speed under load and grinds material finer.

A drum mulcher works material all the way down to the ground for an even finish. A disc mulcher knocks things down but doesn’t clean up after. It won’t cut all the way to the ground, it leaves larger mulch, and it throws debris farther, which can be a safety issue.

More power than a typical 100 HP machine, so the job moves faster and the drum doesn’t bog down partway through a cut.

We run both, carbide for rocky ranch ground that would dull a blade, knives where the finish has to be clean, ensuring the material is cut into fine mulch instead of broken into large pieces. With our horsepower, flow, and pressure we get a clean finish either way, where less powerful machines can’t.

The 275 XE is a compact track loader, so its weight spreads across the tracks instead of four wheels. That lets us work soft or damp ground without leaving ruts to fix later.

The result you can see: ground clean enough to mow, seed, or run cattle on. On most jobs that’s the same season, though thick, heavy brush leaves more material on the ground and can sometimes take a little longer.

What a job looks like

We walk your land, then we clear it clean

We come out, walk the property with you, and confirm what you want taken and what you want left. We talk through the goal, whether that’s opening up access and views, clearing a building area for later, running a corridor, or managing underbrush around your mature trees.

We quote by the job, not by the day. If you want a sense of the range before we come out, here’s what this usually costs.

Then we show up, work clean, and check in with you before we leave.

This works best on:

Large rural parcels

Ranches

Land that’s gone untouched for years

Acreage being prepped for building (we mulch first and clear where the structure goes)

Mulching or land clearing?

Not sure which one you need? We’ll tell you straight

Building on it?

Land clearing

A house, barn, or shop? You need land clearing, with the roots and stumps taken out below grade.

Not building, or not yet?

Forestry mulching

Forestry mulching is the fit, and it keeps your trees and soil in place.

When we come out, we’ll tell you which one your land actually needs. No pressure, and no selling you work you don’t need.
